Regular Season Round 15: Kataja - Seagulls 99-106

Leader Seagulls delivered the thirteenth victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Kataja (5-6) 106-99 in Joensuu. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kataja won fourth quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Seagulls made 30-of-33 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game, while Kataja only scored fourteen points from the stripe. Seagulls players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Kataja was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international Antti Kanervo (192-89, agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 5 assists. American guard Elijah Stewart (196-95, college: USC) contributed with 21 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. American swingman Jarekious Bradley (196-90, college: SEMO) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Earvin Morris (196-94, college: UTEP) added 23 points and 7 assists in the effort for Kataja. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Seagulls (13-2) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place. Kataja lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Seagulls will play against Lahti (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kataja will play against Pyrinto in Tampere and hopes to get back on the winning track.
