Regular Season Round 8: Guangzhou LL - Xinjiang FT 105-137
Date: November 22, 2019
Not a big story in a game in Guangzhou where 14th ranked Long-Lions (2-6) were rolled over by third ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (7-1) 137-105 on Friday. Xinjiang Flying Tige dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Long-Lions' 42. They outrebounded Long-Lions 51-38 including 38 on the defensive glass. Xinjiang Flying Tige looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Long-Lions' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kay Felder (175-95, college: Oakland) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals and the former international center Zhou Qi (217-96) who added 29 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. American point guard Keifer Sykes (183-93, college: Green Bay) responded with 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 6 assists and U.S. Virgin Islands-American forward Marcus Georges-Hunt (196-94, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 23 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Xinjiang Flying Tige keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Guangdong ST. Loser Long-Lions dropped to the sixteenth place with six games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will face Leopards (#15) in Shenzhen in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Long-Lions will play at home against Sharks and hope to win that game.
