The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked UCD Marian's (6-3) home victory over 6th ranked Killorglin (5-5) in Dublin 86-79 on Saturday. Strangely Killorglin outrebounded UCD Marian 44-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for forward Neil Baynes (198-87) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Mike Garrow (193-91, college: E.Connecticut) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. UCD Marian's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Allan Thomas (193-90, college: Georgetown, KY) replied with 31 points and 9 rebounds and Swedish point guard Rami Ghanem (185-93, college: Keyano) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Killorglin. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. UCD Marian moved-up to fourth place. Loser Killorglin dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. UCD Marian's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Dublin Killester.
