Regular Season Round 10: AZS PCz - Polonia Bytom 92-105

There was an upset in Czestochowa where higher ranked AZS PCz (5-4) was defeated by twelfth ranked Polonia Bytom (2-7) 105-92 on Saturday. Polonia Bytom outrebounded AZS PCz 43-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. AZS PCz was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Emil Podkowinski (194-88) fired a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winners (made all of his eight free throws). Swingman Norbert Kujon (194-92) chipped in 25 points and 4 assists. Dawid Jozefowski (184-96) produced 21 points and point guard Maciej Kocma (186-97) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AZS PCz's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Polonia Bytom moved-up to tenth place in Group C, which they share with Rybnik and Bielsko-Biala. Loser AZS PCz keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Polonia Bytom will face higher ranked AZS AGH KR (#3) in Krakow in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. AZS PCz will play on the road against Jaworzno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
