Regular Season Round 9: Alpo VF - Marghera 56-45

Bottom-ranked Marghera (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 56-45 loss to second ranked Alpo VF (7-1) in Verona. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Alpo VF outrebounded Marghera 45-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. Swingman Elisa Policari (184-97) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Laura Reani (184-96) accounted for 5 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian Gisel Villarruel (173-95) came up with 16 points and Giorgia Callegari (173-96) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Marghera in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alpo VF maintains second place in A2 with 7-1 record behind leader Moncalieri. Marghera at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Alpo VF's next round opponent will be league's leader Moncalieri at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marghera will play against Udine (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
