The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Fontedoso Carrefour's (6-2) home victory over 5th ranked Gijon Basket (4-4) 86-66 on Saturday. Point guard Jaume Lobo (180-97) scored 34 points (!!!) to lead the charge for the winners and French forward Ibrahima Diagne (207-95, college: Northern NM) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side swingman Carlos Suarez (186-99) responded with 11 points and 6 assists and forward Fernando Fernandez (201-89, college: Hannibal-LG, agency: Dynamics Global Management) scored 13 points and 4 blocks. Five Gijon Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Fontedoso Carrefour have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group A-B, which they share with PBB. Gijon Basket lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Fontedoso Carrefour will face Chantada (#5) on the road in the next round. Gijon Basket will play against Betanzos and hope to win that game.
