Regular Season Round 12: Vanves - Caen 69-76

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Caen (7-5) defeated on the road 14th ranked Vanves (1-10) 76-69 on Saturday. Caen dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Vanves' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Maurice Acker (173-87, college: Marquette) who scored 22 points and 7 assists. Swingman Florian Thibedore (194-90) chipped in 14 points, 5 assists and 6 steals. Five Caen players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Miguel Buval (207-90) who recorded 15 points and 9 rebounds and Marc-Antoine Bourgault (195-90, college: St.John's) added 19 points respectively. Vanves' coach Sylvain Mousseau tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Caen moved-up to sixth place in Group A. Vanves lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Caen will face Lourdes-Tarbes (#13) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vanves will play against Lorient and hope to win that game.
