Regular Season Round 10: Cazorla - La Zubia 80-71

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Cazorla (2-6) beat at home higher ranked La Zubia (4-4) 80-71 on Saturday. Cazorla looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cazorla made 8 blocks. David Garcia had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Pablo Serrano (191-0) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Four Cazorla players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Eloy Almazan (199-84) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Pablo Fernandez (188-93) scored 7 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. La Zubia's coach David Cardenas let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cazorla moved-up to eighth place in Group D-A, which they share with Unicaja-Andalucia and Mijas Quabit. Newly promoted La Zubia keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Cazorla will face Mijas Quabit (#9) on the road in the next round. La Zubia will play against Andujar (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
