Regular Season Round 21: Shinshu BW - Kumamoto V. 93-60

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Shinshu BW as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Shinshu BW smashed 3rd placed Kumamoto V. in Nagano 93-60. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kumamoto V.. Shinshu BW dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kumamoto V.'s 38. They outrebounded Kumamoto V. 38-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who scored 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American center David Weaver (207-87, college: Wake Forest) who recorded 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) added 8 points and 6 assists respectively. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Kumamoto V. at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Ehime OV. Kumamoto V. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Shinshu BW will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Tokyo EX on the road.
