Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Zarautz (5-3) beat at home 12th ranked Valle de Egues (2-6) 71-65 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Valle de Egues was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Aitzol Eguskitza (193-90) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Miguel Salgado (-99) chipped in 13 points during the contest. At the losing side point guard Alex Calvo (180-91) responded with 15 points and Ivorian power forward Kouassi Konan (203-91) scored 15 points. Valle de Egues' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Zarautz moved-up to fifth place in Group A-A. Valle de Egues lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. Zarautz will face higher ranked Mondragon (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Valle de Egues will play against Goierri (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
