Regular Season Round 8: MuKi - HNMKY 69-109

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Helsinki: HNMKY (#3) and MuKi (#8). MuKi was smashed at home by 40 points 69-109 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. HNMKY led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to MuKi's 32. They outrebounded MuKi 39-23 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. HNMKY looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by MuKi's players. The winners were led by Cameroonian forward Arsene Towa (191-81) who scored that evening 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Sami Tahvanainen (195-98) supported him with 21 points. Five HNMKY players scored in double figures. Even 25 points by guard Janne-Petteri Lehtoranta (190-0) did not help to save the game for MuKi. Power forward Emil Uotila (198-0) added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory HNMKY went down to fourth position (Division) due to points difference. Loser MuKi dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. HNMKY's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Helsinki ToPo Juniorit.
