Regular Season Round 10: Baskonia - Mondragon 72-79

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Baskonia (4-5) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Mondragon (6-2) 79-72 on Sunday. Mondragon forced 21 Baskonia turnovers. American center Zach Kirschbaum (208-93, college: Trinity Intern.) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Czech guard Ondrej Hanzlik (193-2) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Russian Pavel Savkov (200-2) scored 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mondragon moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Solares. Loser Baskonia dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Mondragon will face Zarautz (#5) at home in the next round. Baskonia will play against Filipenses (#13) in Palencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
