There was a minor upset when much higher ranked Salerno (8-2) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Matera (7-3) 79-71 on Sunday. Point guard Lorenzo Panzini (185-90, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Latvian forward Gints Antrops (201-82, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Lorenzo Tortu (202-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Gianmarco Leggio (202-94) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Salerno players scored in double figures. Matera maintains fourth position in B with 7-3 record. Loser Salerno keeps the second place with two games lost. Matera will face Pozzuoli (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Salerno will play against Roma S.Azzurra (#9) and hope to win that game.
