There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Basket Scafati (4-6) defeated on the road top-ranked Novipiu Casale (7-3) 72-64 on Sunday. Basket Scafati forced 19 Novipiu Casale turnovers. American point guard JJ Frazier (178-95, college: Georgia) fired 28 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. American forward DeShawn Sims (203-88, college: Michigan) produced 15 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-89) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Novipiu Casale players scored in double figures. Novipiu Casale's coach Mattia Ferrari tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Basket Scafati moved-up to tenth place in A2. Loser Novipiu Casale dropped to the third position with three games lost. Basket Scafati will face higher ranked Basket TO (#7) in Torino in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Novipiu Casale will play on the road against the league's second-placed Latina Basket (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
