Everything could happen in Moscow at the game between two tied teams. Both thirteenth ranked Belarusian MBC and 14th ranked Russian SSDA had identical 4-4 record. But SSDA was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Minsk 43-23 on Sunday night. The game without a history. MBC led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SSDA to just 2 points in second quarter and to 11 points in second half. MBC held SSDA to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.0 percent accuracy of the winners. MBC forced 29 SSDA turnovers and outrebounded them 36-20 including 22 on the defensive glass. Aleksander Lavrenov (193-4) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and swingman Andrei Mertsalau (186-3) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 9 steals. The best for the losing side was Evgeniy Baukin with 13 points and Yaroslav Osipov scored 6 points. MBC (5-4) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Gulbene and BC Nokia. Loser SSDA keeps the fourteenth position with five games lost.
