Very significant was Empoli's (#8) 80-71 road victory against 7th ranked Broni. It was a great shooting night for Empoli especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Maci Morris (181-96, college: Kentucky) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Her fellow American import power forward Erin Mathias (193-95, college: Duke) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman Jaime Nared (188-95, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) came up with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian Nina Premasunac (187-92, agency: LBM Management) added 8 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Broni in the defeat. Four Broni players scored in double figures. Empoli (4-3) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sesto SG and Vigarano. Broni at the other side dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Empoli will play against Vigarano (#8) on the road in the next round. Broni will play against Sesto SG in Sesto San Giovanni and hopes to get back on the winning track.
