Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Rio de Janeiro: Flamengo (#2) and Botafogo F.R. (#8). Flamengo (9-2) won against visiting Botafogo F.R. (4-6) 81-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Botafogo F.R.. Flamengo made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Botafogo F.R. 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international guard Deryk Ramos (185-94) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Flamengo's coach Gustavo Conti allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) replied with 19 points and 5 assists and naturalized Italian point guard Paulinho Boracini (183-84) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Botafogo F.R.Four Botafogo F.R. players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 9-2 record having just one point less than leader Franca. Botafogo F.R. at the other side dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. They share the position with Minas and Bauru. Flamengo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Botafogo F.R. will play against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
