Regular Season Round 21: Fukushima - Kagawa FA 72-85

There was no surprise when 4th placed Fukushima (7-12) was defeated at home by second ranked Kagawa FA (14-5) 85-72 on Monday. Kagawa FA made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Kagawa FA outrebounded Fukushima 46-28 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fukushima was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Kagawa FA's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: UCF) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Dai Suzuki (183-90) added 22 points respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kagawa FA. They maintain second place with 14-5 record having just two points less than leader Shinshu BW. Fukushima lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
