Regular Season Round 10: Pinheiros - Paulistano 76-81

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Paulistano (#7) and Pinheiros (#8). Pinheiros was defeated at home 76-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Strangely Pinheiros outrebounded Paulistano 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International point guard Yago Santos (178-99) fired 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. Eddy Carvalho (196-87) chipped in 17 points. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. The former international Betinho Nardi-Duarte (195-88) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Pinheiros' coach Cesar Guidetti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Paulistano (7-4) moved-up to fourth place. Pinheiros lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with five games lost. Paulistano are looking forward to face UniFacisa (#7) in the next round. Pinheiros will play against SKY/Basquete and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
