Regular Season Round 16: Korihait - Kouvot 88-75

Bottom-ranked Korihait managed to get the third consecutive victory on Wednesday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Kouvot in Uusikaupunki 88-75. And what about a third win in a row after ...twelve consecutive losses. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Korihait's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-17 extending their advantage to 13 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Kouvot's 38. The winners were led by American power forward Jalen Henry (204-96, college: SIUE) who scored that evening 26 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Trey Zeigler (196-91, college: TCU) supported him with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Five Korihait players scored in double figures. Even 25 points by American forward Derrick Barden-Jr (196-92, college: N.Colorado) did not help to save the game for Kouvot. Swingman Teemu Knihtinen (194-98) added 16 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Kouvot's coach Tuomas Oja rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Korihait have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain twelfth position with 3-12 record. Loser Kouvot keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with KTP Basket. Korihait will meet at home higher ranked Kataja (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kouvot will play against Ura Basket and hope to secure a win.
