Regular Season Round 7: Orlovi - Banovici 86-91

One of the most interesting games of round 7 was a derby match between two teams from Bosnia. The game took place in Banja Luka where sixth ranked Banovici won against host Orlovi (0-7) 91-86. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 35-23. But Orlovi won second period 26-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Banovici won last quarter 23-20. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Banovici looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Irena Vrancic (165-90) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Jovana Markovic (186-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Montenegrin guard Jelena Nikpaljevic (175-94) produced 32 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and center Aleksandra Begenisic (194-89) added 14 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Banovici and five Orlovi players scored in double figures. Defending Bosnian champion maintains sixth place with 3-4 record. Orlovi lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Banovici will meet higher ranked Beroe (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orlovi will play against Kraljevo (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
