Regular Season Round 9: Keflavik - Haukar 78-70 OT

Haukar (#5) forced the game against Keflavik (#4) into an overtime, but lost by eight points 70-78 on Wednesday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 21-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-9. Keflavik forced 23 Haukar turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Keflavik especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (180-95, college: Oklahoma City) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. International guard Katla Gardarsdottir (161-99) chipped in 22 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Randi Brown (170-96, college: New Orleans) who recorded 26 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and international point guard Thora Jonsdottir (171-97) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Keflavik have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 5-3 record. Haukar lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. Keflavik will face Breidablik (#7) in Kopavogur in the next round. Haukar will play at home against Grindavik and hope to win that game.
