Important game to mention about took place in Reykjavik. Ninth ranked Grindavik (4-5) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked IR (5-4) 92-90 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of IR. The guests trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 24-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Grindavik made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Grindavik outrebounded IR 36-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. IR was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) stepped up and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and the former international point guard Sigtryggur-Arnar Bjornsson (180-93, college: St.Mary's) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Evan Singletary (185-94, college: Albany) with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 assists and 5 steals and Bulgarian forward Georgi Boyanov (201-93, college: S.Alabama, agency: Inception Sports) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four IR players scored in double figures. Grindavik moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Thor Thorl. IR at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Grindavik will face bottom-ranked Thor AK (#12) in Akureyri in the next round. IR will play at home against the league's second-placed Tindastoll (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
