Regular Season Round 7: Mashad - Zob Ahan 91-68

Very expected game when 9th ranked Zob Ahan (2-5) was smashed by fifth ranked Mashad (5-2) in Mashhad 91-68 on Thursday. Mashad shot 61.0 percent from the field and made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Zob Ahan only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Zob Ahan 29-18 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mashad shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American point guard Corin Henry (181-88, college: Tarleton St., agency: Agency) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 assists. The former international power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) contributed with 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Iman Zandi (188-81) answered with 29 points and international forward Sajjad Pazrofteh (188-96) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Zob Ahan. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mashad. They maintain fifth place with 5-2 record. Loser Zob Ahan keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Mashad will face Chemidor (#6) in Tehran in the next round. Zob Ahan will play at home against Raad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
