No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Kouvot (9-9) beat 10th ranked Ura Basket (5-12) in Kouvola 97-82 on Friday. The game without a history. Kouvot led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Kouvot had a 31-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Guard Silas Melson (193-96, college: Gonzaga) nailed 29 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winning side and forward Derrick Barden-Jr (196-92, college: N.Colorado) accounted for 17 points and 10 rebounds. Melson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Stephaun Branch (196-95, college: W.Georgia) came up with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Dustin Thomas (203-95, college: Arkansas) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Ura Basket in the defeat. Five Kouvot and four Ura Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Kouvot went down to seventh position due to points difference. Loser Ura Basket dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Kouvot will meet Kobrat (#10) in the next round. Ura Basket will play against Kataja and hope to secure a win.
