Very expected game when 11th ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (2-5) was edged at home by third ranked Rishon (6-1) 77-74 on Friday. Rishon outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 52-39 including 17 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rishon made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international Oz Blayzer (199-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Johnathan Williams-III (206-95, college: Gonzaga, agency: Wasserman) helped adding 16 points and 20 rebounds. Four Rishon players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) scored 26 points and 6 assists. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Rishon. They moved-up to second place. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Rishon will face Ironi Nes-Ziona (#6) in Nes Ziyona in the next round. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play at home against Maccabi Haifa (#7) and hope to win that game.
