Regular Season Round 27: Angeles - Abejas 75-81

There was no surprise in Puebla where 9th ranked Angeles (1-25) were defeated by fifth ranked Abejas (14-9) 81-75 on Saturday. Abejas outrebounded Angeles 43-31 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman Mario Kegler (201-97, college: Baylor) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican Jeff Burgos who recorded a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and American guard G'mitri Rice (191-92) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Abejas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 14-9 record. Angeles lost nineteenth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 25 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
