Not a big story in a game in Athens where 9th ranked Filippos Veroias (3-5) was defeated by seventh ranked Psychiko (5-4) 73-62 on Saturday. Forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Psychiko players scored in double figures. Psychiko's coach Giorgos Remendelas used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was guard Efthimis Kothras (193-81) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 assists and center Kantarkos Rizos (202-83) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Psychiko moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Agriniou and Karditsas. Newly promoted Filippos Veroias keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Psychiko will face bottom-ranked Napfliou (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Filippos Veroias will play against Dafni (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
