Very expected game in Barcelona where 10th ranked Segle XXI (3-6) was defeated by fourth ranked Gran Canaria (6-3) 66-50 on Saturday. American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Mali power forward Sika Kone (190-2) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Marta Suarez (188-2) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Marta Garcia (190-2) scored 11 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gran Canaria moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Segle XXI keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Gran Canaria will face Unicaja (#5) in Malaga in the next round. Segle XXI will play against Ardoi (#4) and hope to win that game.
