Regular Season Round 9: Granada - Mataro Parc 87-55

Date: November 30, 2019
There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Mataro Parc (3-6) was outplayed on the road by thirteenth ranked Granada (3-5) 87-55 on Saturday. Granada dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Mataro Parc's 26. Granada forced 22 Mataro Parc turnovers. Point guard Andrea Alcantara (171-99) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and center Claudia Calvelo (192-92) chipped in 18 points. The best for the losing side was German guard Alina Hartmann (183-95, college: Colorado, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and center Olga Ruano (191-88) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Granada moved-up to ninth place in Group B. Mataro Parc lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Granada will face higher ranked Girona (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mataro Parc will play against Lima-Horta and hope to win that game.
