Regular Season Round 9: HBA-Marsky - Kristika Turku 89-75

Not a big story in a game in Helsinki where 8th ranked Kristika Turku (3-5) was defeated by leader HBA-Marsky (8-0) 89-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by HBA-Marsky. Kristika Turku was better in fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. HBA-Marsky forced 21 Kristika Turku turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Tomas Pihlajamaki (190-0) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Mustapha Amzil (202-1) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Five HBA-Marsky players scored in double figures. HBA-Marsky's coach Jukka Toijala used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was power forward Mikael Aalto (205-94) with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (went 15 for 15 at the free throw line !!!) and French forward Manuel Barnes (200-92, college: Baker) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. HBA-Marsky maintains first place in Division with 8-0 record. Kristika Turku at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. HBA-Marsky will face Jyvaskyla BA (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kristika Turku will play against Raiders Basket in Jarvenpaa and hope to win that game.
