Regular Season Round 11: TLU/Kalev - TalTech 98-77

An interesting game took place in Tallinn where higher ranked TalTech (4-6) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked TLU/Kalev (2-8) 98-77. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. TLU/Kalev outrebounded TalTech 51-26 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Forward Karl-Johan Lips (198-96) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Michael Buchanan (213-94, college: USC Upstate) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. TLU/Kalev's coach Martin Muursepp felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Eric Schmalz (188-99) answered with 20 points and American forward Levi Giese (206-90, college: Lafayette, agency: Blacktop Management) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for TalTech. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. TLU/Kalev moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with LU. TalTech lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. TLU/Kalev's next round opponent will be higher ranked Parnu (#8) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
