Regular Season Round 9: Rethymno - Aris 70-63

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Aris (3-8) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Rethymno (3-6) 70-63. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aris won fourth quarter 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rethymno brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Aris helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American point guard Conner Frankamp (185-95, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with 26 points. His fellow American import power forward Wesley Gordon (206-94, college: Colorado) contributed with 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Rethymno's coach Vaggelis Ziagkos allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International point guard Lefteris Bochoridis (193-94) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Bosnian forward Milan Milosevic (204-85) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Aris. Four Aris players scored in double figures. Rethymno moved-up to tenth place, which they share with PAOK and Panionios. Aris at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Rethymno's next round opponent will be again Aris (#13) in Thessaloniki. Aris will play at home against Panionios and hope to win that game.
