Regular Season Round 11: Pozzuoli V. - Matera 74-88

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Matera (8-3) defeated on the road 11th ranked Pozzuoli (5-6) 88-74 on Saturday. Matera dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pozzuoli's 32. The best player for the winners was naturalized Latvian forward Gints Antrops (201-82, agency: Interperformances) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Lorenzo Panzini (185-90, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 18 points. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Point guard Nicola Savoldelli (184-97, agency: Agency) produced 23 points and 8 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and center Daniele Tomasello (203-93) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Pozzuoli's coach Mariano Gentile rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Matera moved-up to third place in B. Loser Pozzuoli dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Matera will face Roma Luiss (#7) at home in the next round. Pozzuoli will play against Roma S.Azzurra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
