Regular Season Round 17: KTP Basket - Seagulls 101-85

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Seagulls (16-3) in Kotka on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked KTP Basket (10-8) 101-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Seagulls. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 57-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. KTP Basket made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. American guard Byron Wesley (196-92, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward JayVaughn Pinkston (201-91, college: Villanova) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. KTP Basket's coach Tomi Kaminen used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Elijah Stewart (196-95, college: USC) answered with 19 points and 4 assists and the former international Antti Kanervo (192-89, agency: Blacktop Management) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Seagulls. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. KTP Basket moved-up to fourth place. Seagulls at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. KTP Basket are looking forward to face Pyrinto (#5) in Tampere in the next round. Seagulls will play at home against Kauhajoki (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
