Regular Season Round 7: Melbourne - Sydney Uni 94-81

Very expected game in Melbourne where 7th ranked Sydney Uni Flames (3-7) were defeated by second ranked Boomers (8-1) 94-81. Boomers players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Madeleine Garrick (178-92) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 4 assists. The former international center Cayla George (192-89) contributed with 5 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Boomers players scored in double figures. Boomers' coach Guy Molloy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and American forward Colleen Planeta (188-88, college: PLNU) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sydney Uni Flames. Boomers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-1 record behind leader Southside. Sydney Uni Flames at the other side keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Boomers will play against Perth Lynx (#6) at home in the next round. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Adelaide Lightning and hope to get back on the winning track.
