Very important is a road loss of third ranked San Martino (6-2) against fifth ranked Lucca (6-2) on Sunday night. Visiting San Martino was crushed by Lucca in Lucca 76-53. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of San Martino. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Chucky Jeffery (178-91, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds and Slovakian center Ivana Jakubcova (198-94, college: USC) who added 16 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. International power forward Samantha Ostarello (188-91, college: Purdue, agency: LBM Management) responded with 9 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Elena Fietta (167-95) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lucca have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with San Martino and Venezia. Lucca will meet Empoli (#6) on the road in the next round. San Martino will play against Vigarano and hope to secure a win.
