Regular Season Round 8: KFUM Lidingo - Lulea S. 101-78

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Lulea S. (3-5) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked KFUM Lidingo (5-2) 101-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by KFUM Lidingo. Lulea S. was better in fourth quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KFUM Lidingo dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Lulea S.'s 48. KFUM Lidingo forced 34 Lulea S. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Lulea S.'s players. The best player for the winners was Serigne-Modou Thioune (-88) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Center Tom Goransson (-98) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. New Zealand forward Dion Collins (203, college: Culver Stockton) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and Calvin Jagare added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five KFUM Lidingo and four Lulea S. players scored in double figures. Lulea S.'s coach Maien Engman already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. KFUM Lidingo have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position in North with 5-2 record. Loser Lulea S. keeps the sixth place with five games lost. KFUM Lidingo will face league's second-placed Ockelbo on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Lulea S. will play against Akropol (#3) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Superettan just one year after relegation.
