Regular Season Round 10: Gorizont II - Gomel 105-56

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Gomel-Sozh's (1-8) road loss to eighth ranked Gorizont II (3-7) 56-105 on Sunday. Gorizont II dominated on the defensive end, holding Gomel-Sozh to just 6 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Gomel-Sozh's 32. Gorizont II forced 40 Gomel-Sozh turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Gomel-Sozh's players. Guard Maria Anufrienko (172-2) fired 46 points (!!!) and 8 steals for the winners. Guard Irina Durmanova (165-1) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 assists and 4 steals. Four Gorizont II players scored in double figures. Point guard Ilona Katsyro (166-5) produced 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Svetlana Kosterenko (185-3) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gorizont II maintains eighth position with 3-7 record. Gomel-Sozh lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with eight games lost. Gorizont II will meet at home higher ranked BrGU COR Victoria (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gomel-Sozh will play against Victoria (#5) and hope to win that game.
