There was no surprise in Torun where 10th ranked Katarzynki (1-7) was crushed by sixth ranked AZS Gorzow (5-3) 90-61 on Sunday. AZS Gorzow made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. AZS Gorzow outrebounded Katarzynki 43-20 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kahleah Copper (186-94, college: Rutgers) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Lithuanian forward Laura Juskaite (186-97) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four AZS Gorzow players scored in double figures. American center Latoya Williams (192-87, college: Chipola JC) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and her fellow American import swingman Naomi Davenport (183, college: WVU) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. AZS Gorzow moved-up to fourth place, which they share with AZS UMCS and Sleza Wroclaw. Loser Katarzynki keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. AZS Gorzow will face Widzew (#11) in Lodz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Katarzynki will play on the road against CCC Polkowice and hope to win that game.
