Regular Season Round 8: H.Tel-Aviv - Beer Sheva 102-97

Date: December 2, 2019
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Beer Sheva (2-5) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (2-5) 102-97 on Monday. Hapoel Tel-Aviv looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Beer Sheva was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Latavious Williams (203-89, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). International Tomer Ginat (202-94) helped adding 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American center Steve Zack (210-92, college: La Salle) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Spencer Weisz (193-95, college: Princeton) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Beer Sheva's coach Rami Hadar tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Beer Sheva. Beer Sheva lost their third game in a row. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will face higher ranked Maccabi Haifa (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
