Regular Season Round 8: Rishon - Eilat 80-74

Everything went according to plan in Rishon Le-Zion where third ranked Rishon (6-1) beat 8th ranked Hapoel Eilat (3-5) 80-74 on Monday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Rishon forced 20 Hapoel Eilat turnovers. Strangely Hapoel Eilat outrebounded Rishon 41-26 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Alex Hamilton (193-93, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 assists. His fellow American import forward James Kelly (201-93, college: Marshall, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 17 points. Five Rishon players scored in double figures. At the losing side international Rafi Menco (200-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and American center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Rishon. They moved-up to second place. Loser Hapoel Eilat keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Rishon will face Ironi Nes-Ziona (#6) in Nes Ziyona in the next round. Hapoel Eilat will play at home against Hapoel Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
