The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Celtics as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Celtics smashed leader Heat in Boston 112-93. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Heat. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Celtics made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Celtics made 8 blocks. 25 personal fouls committed by Heat helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Kemba Walker (185-90, college: UConn) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 7 assists. Forward Jaylen Brown (201-96, college: California) contributed with 31 points for the winners. Swingman Jimmy Butler (201-89, college: Marquette) answered with 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Justise Winslow (198-96, college: Duke) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Heat. Four Heat players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Toronto R. Heat at the other side still keeps top place with six games lost. They share the position with Dallas M. and Philadelphia 76.
