Regular Season Round 8: Crvena Zvezda - Tresnjevka 89-61

Everything could happen in Beograd at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda and 9th ranked Croatian Tresnjevka had identical 1-6 record. This time Crvena Zvezda used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Zagreb 89-61. Tresnjevka was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 57-24 second half run of Crvena Zvezda. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Tresnjevka's 36. Crvena Zvezda forced 33 Tresnjevka turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The winners were led by point guard Ivana Katanic (180-99) who scored that evening 15 points and 8 assists and Bosnian Milina Miseljic (186-97, agency: BeoBasket) supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Crvena Zvezda players scored in double figures. Crvena Zvezda's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by center Josipa Pavic (189-99) did not help to save the game for Tresnjevka. Anja Majstorovic (184-94) added 3 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Defending Serbian champion (2-6) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Partizan. Tresnjevka lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with seven games lost. Crvena Zvezda's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Orlovi (#10) in Banja Luka. Tresnjevka will play at home against Partizan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
