Regular Season Round 11: Breidablik - Haukar 83-92

Not a big story in a game in Kopavogur where 7th ranked Breidablik (2-9) was defeated by fifth ranked Haukar (6-5) 92-83 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Strangely Breidablik outrebounded Haukar 45-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Randi Brown (170-96, college: New Orleans) who led her team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Guard Lovisa Henningsdottir (184-95) helped adding 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. American guard Danni Williams (178, college: Texas) responded with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 18 rebounds and 6 assists and international guard Bjork Gunnarsdottir (160-98) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Haukar maintains fifth place with 6-5 record. Breidablik lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Haukar will face Snaefell (#6) in Stykkisholmur in the next round. Breidablik will play on the road against the league's leader Valur in Reykjavik and hope to win that game.
