Regular Season Round 8: Montana - Celje 84-79

The biggest surprise took place in Montana where host Bulgarian Montana 2003 (7-1) beat league's leader Slovenian Celje (7-1) 84-79 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Celje. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 27-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Montana 2003 looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Slovenian center Tina Trebec (190-90, agency: LBM Management) who scored 35 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Bosnian-Croatian guard Matea Tavic (178-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 assists. American guard Taeler Deer (165-96, college: Texas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 assists and 4 steals and her fellow American import guard Andreona Keys (178-95, college: Purdue) added 21 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Celje players scored in double figures. Montana 2003 have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending Bulgarian champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Celje and Beroe. Celje will play next round against strong Beroe trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Montana 2003 will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Buducnost in Podgorica.
