Regular Season Round 12: Miedzychod - Politechnika Gd. 96-79

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Politechnika Gd. (7-3) against sixth ranked Miedzychod (6-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Politechnika Gd. was defeated by Miedzychod in Miedzychod 96-79. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Politechnika Gd.. Miedzychod looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Politechnika Gd.'s players. The best player for the winners was Jakub Simon (202-96) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Lukasz Ulchurski (185-90) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Miedzychod players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Piotr Smigielski (190-89) who recorded 26 points and 5 rebounds and Patryk Piszczatowski (190-98) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Miedzychod maintains sixth position in Group A with 6-4 record, which they share with Gniezno. Loser Politechnika Gd. dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Trefl II Sopot. Miedzychod will meet Koszalin Zak (#9) on the road in the next round. Politechnika Gd. will play against Gniezno (#7) and hope to secure a win.
