Regular Season Round 23: Hiroshima D. - Sendai 89ers 79-65

The game between Top Four teams took place in Hiroshima. First ranked host Dragonflies (19-4) defeated second-ranked Sendai 89ers (15-8) 79-65. Dragonflies looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field). American forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) helped adding 15 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and Keita Sawabe (184-95) scored 20 points. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Dragonflies maintains first place with 19-4 record which they share with defeated Sendai 89ers. Loser Sendai 89ers still keep top position with eight games lost. Dragonflies will face Fukuoka R. (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's second-placed Gunma (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
