Regular Season Round 13: CDU Catolica - Puente Alto 50-82

Date: December 7, 2019
Very expected game in Santiago where 5th ranked Universidad Catolica (6-8) was crushed by first ranked Puente Alto (8-4) 82-50 on Saturday. Puente Alto outrebounded Universidad Catolica 48-27 including a 39-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international point guard Erik Carrasco (181-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American forward Corbin Jackson (198-92, college: Florida Tech) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Worth to mention Jackson played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Four Puente Alto players scored in double figures. Puente Alto's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American Scott Cutley (196-85, college: CS Fullerton) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard DJ Ursery (193, college: Alaska-Anch.) scored 14 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Puente Alto. They maintain first place with 8-4 record. Universidad Catolica lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Puente Alto will face league's second-placed Universidad de Concepcion on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Universidad Catolica will play against Puerto Montt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
