There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Fr.Mathews (5-4) lost to seventh ranked 11890 Killester (5-4) in Cork 55-63 on Saturday. 11890 Killester outrebounded Fr.Mathews 62-33 including a 45-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Adella Randle-El (173, college: Sacramento St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Christa Reed (180, college: Vanderbilt) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds. Randle-El is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Amy Murphy (179-99) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Shannon Brady (183, college: Bowdoin) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Fr.Mathews in the defeat. 11890 Killester moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Liffey Celtics and Fr.Mathews. 11890 Killester will meet Brunell (#8) in the next round.
